The Choir : Introduction and our Goals
CANTIQUA NOVA was founded in 1998 and now has 35 members. Once a week the vocalists meet to rehearse and
prepare for the several concerts they perform in a year.
Cantare antiqua et nova – we sing both, old and contemporary compositions, always searching for and emphasizing the spirituality of the music. With this guiding intention, the choir has developed a
|repertoire ranging from Gregorian music to J. S. Bach, J. Brahms or Hugo Distler to Arvo
Pärt and other ontemporary composers.
The singers enjoy performing for an audience familiar to them when performing nearby, but are likewise interested in meeting new people and in discovering new places when concerts take us to a another town.
